NewingerArt: Javier de la Rosa

Javier de la Rosa

Sculpture

Javier de la Rosa was born in Madrid, Spain, in 1984. Since he was young, he felt attracted to drawing and sculpting and along his life, Javier always has felt fascinated for the different cultures around the world and their stories and mythos.

He cultivated his interest during his time before the university, developing in depth during his degree in Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid. Before he finished his career, Javier started to work with a sculptor of great professional trajectory like Jesus Curia, learning and developing for more that 11 years.
After finishing his degree in 2008, he was awarded diverse grants and prizes. Thanks to those recognitions, he could develop different projects in some important art foundations in Spanish, like the Rodriguez Acosta Foundation in Granada and the Antonio Gala Foundation in Cordoba.

The essence of Javier’s work is the union with the feeling of life. In his work, he explores the character of nature, both human and animal, and how it progresses over time. He investigates ideas that link tradition and technology, and the concept of globalization appears subtly. The evolution and adaptation to the environment are terms that he represents, he likes to imagine how they were, they are and will be at that time we have not lived yet.

Javier has received diverse awards during his career, some like the Acquisition award in the 77 International Exhibition of Fine Arts Valdepeñas, Cuidad Real, in 2016, the Tiranti award in the annual exhibition of The Chelsea Art Society, in2018 in London or the First Prize of the 30th Bienal Jacinto
Higueras of sculpture, in Jaén in 2018 too.
