London-based artist Silvia Cherni works primarily in oils. Raised in a family where art was ever-present, she was introduced to painting early on and has, in recent years, developed her practice through self-directed work.

Her paintings span between still life and abstracted compositions, unified by a sustained interest in light, atmosphere and form. In her still lifes, she often works wet-on-wet, drawing on an alla prima approach to respond directly to light and structure. Her abstracted works frequently reference landscape, built through layering and glazing techniques to create depth and luminosity.

Silvia’s practice is grounded in classical methods, including chiaroscuro, while remaining open to experimentation and contemporary expression. She has pursued atelier-style study through London Fine Art Studios.

Working from her home studio in Barnes, London, Silvia continues to refine her work, balancing observation, technique and an intuitive approach.
