Painting

Toni Garau (Sóller, Mallorca, 1974) is a contemporary artist inspired by the history of the textile industry in his hometown. Through his work, he pays tribute to the women and men whose dedication transformed Sóller into a prosperous and hopeful city.

Garau reinterprets thread – a material rich in history – making it the central element of his artworks. In doing so, he artistically connects Mallorca’s industrial past with the present, particularly the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when Sóller experienced major change driven by new industries, trade and infrastructure.

His most recent works shift toward a more intimate dialogue with the Tramuntana landscape, capturing the calm and serenity of sunset walks beneath its peaks.

Through these works, Garau invites us to pause, breathe and reconnect with the quiet beauty of fleeting moments, offering both a visual and emotional experience rooted in the places closest to his heart.
